Merry Christmas

Christmas card Diane sent to me from college, December 1986.

Just to let me know how much she was looking forward to coming home for the holiday break.

I always had cookie tins and jars filled with goodies lined up on the buffet awaiting her arrival.  And immediately upon arriving home, and after giving me my big hug, she made a beeline for the buffet - opening each one and blissfully sampling the contents, rolling her eyes and making happy, contented little sounds.  Still to this day, one of my favorite Christmas memories.

And, yes - you do see broccoli, squash and cauliflower dancing around with the sugar plums!  I probably have two of the few children who have always loved veggies (thanks to a very wise pediatrician)!

Almost all the little doors are open now on my Advent calendar!

I saved the last one for you to open!

Wishing each and every one of you the Merriest Christmas ever.

I saw your request for help

I saw your request for help finding some wood strips. You'll have to call, but they carry a lot of the "older" type craft supplies from up to 30 years ago. Maybe they will have the wood strips you are looking for, or know where to get them.

Dear Pam, Thanks for your

Dear Pam,
Thanks for your reply. I am sure you must be busy. I love your site. I think you may have misunderstood. I made an English Christmas cake for friends who visited us from Denmark in the summer. I am not sure that they have Christmas Cake as such. I will try to find out. I did not get around to making the Danish rice pudding with almonds for Christmas. I was so busy. However I made a Rocky road, a Christmas Pudding and a chocolate sort of trifle as the my grandchildren love it (, as do the adults. We call it children's chocolate trifle. It is chocolate sponge cake in the bottom then chocolate custard, then Angel delight which is I am ashamed to say is out of a packet and whisked with milk, then topped with Chocolate buttons. We had eleven of us here for Christmas. The grandchildren made a gingerbread house with my help about a week before. I have some pictures but not sure if I can show you. I will try anyway.

A Happy New Year to you.
Best Wishes

Pam,how fun to have been able to follow your Christmas season with your advent calendar. Great to see it on its completion, and again after all the doors are opened. The drawing from your daughter's college days is great. I am so curious to know what advice you got from a pediatrician to get kids to like vegetables?
