Dutch Canal House Embroidery - August Update (Having Too Much Fun!)

Dutch Canal Houses embroidery

Dutch Canal Houses! Great progress is being made!

I didn't plan it this way, but the table runner is becoming an opportunity to learn new stitches as I look for ways to create interest and texture.

My strategy? Simply to page through two of my most favorite stitch references until a stitch jumps out at me! Most times the stitch itself will suggest where it is best to be used!

I am thinking, if you like, once the houses are completed, I can publish a list of the stitches I have used with links to web sources of instruction. Anyone interested?

And here are my two favorite book references for learning stitches!

The Embroiderer's Handbook by Margie Bauer

Stitch Sampler by Lucinda Ganderton

Added after posting:  Susan just reminded me that I forgot to link to the previous post in which I shared the beginning of the project and how I developed the pattern!
