Bolo Rei - Special Holiday Cake from Portugal

Bolo Rei - Xmas Cake

Note:  I assisted Christina with placing this yummy recipe from Portugal on the cookie swap.  I hope you will take the time to go visit her on Flickr. She will soon be posting pictures of the Nativity she has built in front of her home - you won't want to miss it.

Christine wrote the background information and the recipe. Enjoy.

Sandkaker - Norwegian Sand Cookies

My friend Gill lives in Norway and although she does not have a blog, she wanted to participate in the cookie recipe exchange. Below you will find the recipe from her MIL she has shared with me.

Apparently her MIL bakes so many cookies at Christmas that they last until Easter! Then she bakes no more cookies until the next Christmas!

My unglamorous beauty shot! But I don't think it takes away from how cool these turned out!

My little recycled basket ornaments were inspired by two internet friends - Margit whose blog Papirklip og Aesker is full of the most wonderful Danish inspired, downloadable paper ornaments and Heather whom you all know from Dollar Store Crafts.

Welcome to the International Winter Holiday Cookie Recipe Swap!

Baking cookies is one of my favorite ways to celebrate the holidays and I am always on the lookout for new recipes to try - especially those that are a part of traditional celebrations in other cultures.

Bizcochitos - My Favorite Holiday Cookie (after sugar cookies of course!)

P1090641

Bizcochitos (biz-co-chee-toes) have been a family favorite for as long as I can remember.

The New Mexico State Legislature voted them the New Mexico State Cookie! And once you have tasted one, you will know why!

Every person I have ever baked a batch for has begged me for more!
