Beading Ojos de Dios (God's Eyes)

I've been playing around with this idea of adding beads to a God's eye for a while now.  I used the the reversed weaving technique described in my previous post and then added strings of beads to the "wells".  If you are new to God's eyes or need a refresher, refer to my basic tutorial for weaving God's eyes.

Punched "Tin" Butterflies and Other Creatures - Inspiration and Ideas!

Butterflies are not the only creatures I make out of tin!  I just finished making this little sea dragon - a gift for my Mother because she happens to collect dragons!

My favorite way to use "punched tin" creatures? Tree ornaments of course!  And it is my firmly held opinion that it is never too early to begin making for the holidays!

So to help get your muse thinking about cool ideas for "punched tin", here are a few more ornament creatures to inspire you and get you thinking beyond butterflies.

Embellishing your beautiful punched "tin" butterflies!

Thank you for all your comments on the Butterfly post!!! I am so pleased that many of you are going to make punched "tin" butterflies!  I hope you will send me pictures -  PLEASE!  Or post them on Flicker and send me a link!

Before I begin talking about embellishing butterflies, I want to share a couple tips that were left as comments on my tutorial for making punched "tin" butterflies.  These are very useful tips and I wanted to make sure no one missed them.

Ice Crystals

Just LOOK at these gorgeous ice crystals we found growing on the twigs and grasses beside our favorite walking trail along Salmon Creek here in Vancouver. The crystals are attached to the twigs and grasses, but the branching formation is all ice!

Of course, we ran home, grabbed our camera and tripod and headed back to capture as many crystals as possible before they melted away. I totally loved this little frozen pond surrounded by grasses encrusted with ice crystals.
