Butterflies in May: Embroidered Wings to Share!

Butterfly wing - experimenting with single stran floss embroidery

Where oh where did I ever get the idea I was butterfly making super woman!!! Just barely managing to complete one wing on each of my embroidered butterflies this month! But it IS a good start - at the very least I know now what my stitched butterflies are going to look like!

Butterflies in May: Black Work Butterfly Update

Black work Butterfl. Wing one done!

First Black Work butterfly wing completed!

And I am loving every minute spent working these intricate but simple stitches using one single tiny thin strand of embroidery floss!

Most likely, I will not complete my embroidered butterflies before the end of May as originally planned, but that's OK 'cause butterflies will be fluttering about on my Butterfly Tree until mid-July.

Butterflies in May: Embroidery Stitches New to Me!

Beginning Butterfly embroideries!

This month is not going quite as smoothly as planned - probably because I may have gotten a bit carried away with my butterfly project!!! Eyes bigger than my crafty time one could say!!! Or perhaps a skewed and unrealistic idea of the amount of time it takes to tap hundreds of tiny holes in tin or make hundreds of tiny stitches on fabric! So Â…. this is as far as I have gotten on three embroidered butterfly adventures!

Last Minute Quick As a Wink Easter Bunnies to Make

Adorable Bunny made using pattern from Abby Glassenberg

Still need a bunny for your basket?

Don't despair! There is still plenty of time to make one! Or two or three!

It only took me a couple hours to stitch and stuff the plump little pink bunny above. If you have a bit of stuffing and a little felt or plush in the house you are set! Easter Bunny in a couple hours! Less if (unlike me) you sew him on the machine!

Embroidered Norwegian Primstav: A year long journey

P1220076

I am embarking on a long anticipated journey. A road less taken to be sure but a road that, although lost to the mists of time and unfamiliar to most people, beckons and intrigues me.

The journey fits in very nicely with my focus this year on completing personal projects that have languished on my "to do" lists while I gave my time and attention to "blog projects".
