Arielle Takes Us on a Mid-winter Vacation to Tropical Okinawa, Japan!

Arielle's photo of billboard advertising Christmas dinner from KFC on Okinawa, Japan.

The winter holidays were extra special for me this year because four very generous online friends were willing to share their own stories of Winter Holiday celebrations and traditions in Japan, Poland, Estonia and Italy.

I completely understand how much work and thought and time went into the pictures and words that made up each story. I am grateful beyond words.

Christmas in July = Dala Horse Craft-along!

Christmas in July 2011! Just about the best ever because I shared the celebration with three amazing Scandinavian women who are so generous in sharing inspiration and friendship. Carina, Hanna, and Kathryn.

Candlemas, Imbolc, Brigid's Day, Ground Hog Day, Mid-winter, Celebrate February 2nd.

We have made it! The darkest days of winter are behind us!

The mid-way point between the winter solstice and spring equinox will be celebrated by many in the northern hemisphere tomorrow - on February 2nd.

This truly special day, known as Ground Hog Day, Candlemas, Imbolc, Brigid's Day or mid-winter has been marked with special celebrations and traditions since ancient times. At the end of the post you can find links that will enlighten you further as to the history and customs.
