Celebrate! It's St. Nicholas Eve. Sinterklaas is Coming!

St. Nicholas - Sinterklaas - has been here! Since it is almost mid-night in Amsterdam, he had to come a bit early to the Pacific Northwest!

And I was ready for him this year! Wooden shoes and Pepernoten! I know, I know, carrots are traditionally left for Sinterklaas' donkey, but since I am always, always good, I left Pepernoten!

Sinterklaas left Clementines, peppermint sticks, chocolate coins AND lovely Dutch Licorice!  There is no better Licorice than Dutch Licorice!

Gracie is all ready for the holidays and not so patiently waiting!

Waiting is not something I am finding easy these days either!

Spent the whole day yesterday taking "beauty shots" of the upcoming tutorials and now I am going crazy having to wait to share!

Happy St. Nicholas Day!

Advent calendar - December 6th - St. Nicholas Day!

We awoke to frozen fog!

When fog and freezing temperatures come together at the same time, everything is covered with a fine film of frozen water vapor.

And best of all - St. Nicholas had indeed visited while we were sleeping!

Happy St. Nicholas Day to all.

December 5, St. Nicholas Eve and a Bedtime Story

Advent Calendar - December 5th,  St. Nicholas Eve.

Today is a perfect time to share one of my favorite childhood books, Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates by Mary Mapes Dodge. The story takes place in Holland, a country that begins celebrating the Feast of St. Nicholas in mid November!
