St. Nicholas Day

Advent calendar - December 6th - St. Nicholas Day!
We awoke to frozen fog!
When fog and freezing temperatures come together at the same time, everything is covered with a fine film of frozen water vapor.
And best of all - St. Nicholas had indeed visited while we were sleeping!
Happy St. Nicholas Day to all.

Advent Calendar - December 5th, St. Nicholas Eve.
Today is a perfect time to share one of my favorite childhood books, Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates by Mary Mapes Dodge. The story takes place in Holland, a country that begins celebrating the Feast of St. Nicholas in mid November!

The Feast of St. Nicholas is almost upon us! And again, I am trying out new cookies from this collection of St. Nicholas Cookies!
You will want to visit The St. Nicholas Center and you may want to check out what cookies I made from the cookie collection last year!
But before revealing which cookies I baked this year, I wanted to share a couple tips.

Did Sinterklaas visit you last night? Did you put carrots and a little hay in your shoe for his horse, and did you find gold coin candy in your shoe this morning? I hope so!

It is almost December 5th - the celebration day of the Feast of St. Nicholas! To get into the spirit, and to learn all about the very first "Santa", visit the Saint Nicholas Center. You will learn about St. Nicholas (who was the Bishop of Myra during the third century) and how families around the world celebrate his feast day.
